Web design made in Cologne, Human made in New Zealand

(one of the good guys).

Me and what I do

Web design made in Cologne

I do things on the internet. I build and design websites.

At the moment I work for a pretty cool agency in Cologne – CTS-Media. I still find time to pursue some private projects. Mostly they revolve around cake. Or my phone. Sometimes Bunnies.

The nitty gritty – I’m a frontend developer. HTML, CSS and JavaScript are what I’m good at but MySQL, PHP and Java aren’t foreign to me either. I do my graphics with the Adobe-CS Programs. Wordpress and Contao are the CMS I know. I design websites, logos and icons, touch up pictures and program functionality.

Human made in New Zealand

I’ve always had a great interest in new technologies but I didn’t start systematically learning to do stuff with code and design until 2012. I completed a two-and-a-half-year course in computer science focused on digital media in 2014. Since then I’ve been deepening my knowledge and developing new skills as well as taking on projects as a freelancer.

I was born in New Zealand but I’ve lived in Germany the past half of my life. (That makes me half German, right?). I worked in a customer contact centre for 11 years before moving on to web development. I’ve been a team leader, coach, done workforce management, training and human resource development - generally I ensured high quality content and performance. I was working with people. I enjoyed it and I’m good at it.

I still believe that making an efficient and reliable customer service part of the brand and product is a factor that will give a company the cutting edge over its competition.

And there was cake

I run and cycle. Actually, I take fitness pretty seriously and I love a good 20km run or a 100km bike ride. I take photos. Mostly of cake.

When I first came to Germany I did an apprenticeship as a baker and I can still whack up some scrumptious cakes. Now I mostly eat other peoples cakes and write about them.

Muir is Scottish. You pronounce it like this: [mju-er](as in "you" with an "m" in front of it, then "er").

6. Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics software to analyse its website traffic, and explicitly refers its users to the following Google data privacy statement: "This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. ('Google'). Google Analytics uses 'cookies', which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how visitors use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website will generally be transmitted to, and stored by, Google on a server in the USA. If IP anonymisation ('masking') has been activated on this website, however, and you are located in a member state of the European Union or in another state that is party to the European Economic Area (EEA) Agreement, your IP address will first be abbreviated by Google, the full IP address only being transmitted to a Google server in the USA in exceptional cases before being abbreviated there. Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing the website operator with other services relating to website activity and internet usage. The IP address transmitted from your browser by Google Analytics will not be associated with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser; however, please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. 7. Google+

The collection and dissemination of data: The Google +1 button is a way for you to share information publicly with the world. The Google +1 button helps you and others receive personalized content from Google and our partners. The fact that you +1'd something will be recorded by Google, along with information about the page you were viewing when you clicked on the +1 button. Your +1's may appear to others as an annotation with your profile name and photo in Google services (such as in search results or on your Google Profile) or elsewhere on websites and ads on the Internet. Google is recording information about your +1 activity in order to provide you and other users with a better experience on Google services. In order to use the Google +1 button, you need to have a public Google Profile visible to the world, which at a minimum includes the name you chose for the profile. That name will be used across Google services and in some cases it may replace another name you've used when sharing content under your Google Account. Google may display your Google Profile identity to people who have your email address or other identifying information.

Use of the collected information: In addition to the above-described uses, the information you provide to Google is used subject to Googles main Privacy Policy. Google may share aggregate statistics related to users' +1 activity with the public, their users, and partners, such as publishers, advertisers, or connected sites. For example, they may tell a publisher that “10% of the people who +1'd this page are in Tacoma, Washington.”
